Reducing our carbon emission and
managing climate risk with WWF.
The Paris Agreement brings all nations into a common cause to undertake ambitious efforts to combat climate change and aims to keep a global temperature rise this century well below 1.5 ̊C to 2 ̊C above pre-industrial levels.
Countries in which we operate have all established long-term goals to reduce national emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change:
- The PRC Government set up a carbon intensity reduction target of reaching 60-65% below 2005 levels by 2030.
- The Australian Government agreed to an absolute carbon emissions reduction target of 26-28% below 2005 levels by 2030.
- New Zealand’s target is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 30% below 2005 levels by 2030.
We must all work together in achieving these targets, and the business sector is no exception. At PTG Food, we are assessing the impact of our business activities on the natural environment, adopting low carbon
operational practices and collaborating with WWF and business partners to pursue strategic actions that advance conservation, community and the company business objectives.
We are working with WWF to implement its Low Carbon Emissions Program (LCMP) at production facilities in PRC (Shanghai), Australia (Brisbane and Sydney) and New Zealand (Tauranga and Hastings) to reduce carbon emissions and manage climate risk. This program provides manufacturers with a set of practical tools to assess, report on and improve their energy efficiency and carbon performance easily, quickly, and economically.
